A Real Story By Inspector General Of Police Satyendra Garg

I came across this very inspirational story shared by the Mr. Satyendra Garg,IPS who after his well known stint with Delhi Traffic Police as a Joint Commissioner is currently posted as I.G.P.(L&O) Arunanchal Pradesh. In this story Mr. Garg has stressed on the importance of honesty.

Story Of An Outstanding Man Who Rose From Nowhere

I know a person more than 76 years old who traveled on foot more than 50 kilometers every week to reach his college. As a school child, fatherless, he would collect cow dung to earn a living and somehow manage to study. He would buy school books in tatters from kabaris. He never had enough food to even survive and would go without food many a times. By sheer dint of hard work he studied, got into Indian Forest Service. He continued his frugal life style in service when his colleagues made millions in corrupt working, got his three children do well in studies, son doing M Tech from IIT Delhi and later on joining IPS, elder daughter studying post graduate medicine and later on joining CGHS as a medical officer and the youngest daughter, again doing M Tech from IIT Delhi and later on joining Indian Engineering Service and joining ITS. Today he is a satisfied person but would not waste a penny unnecessarily. Do we lack examples of honest living, No. Then why do youngsters take to dishonesty and reap the most dangerous consequences for themselves and their families. Hope people learn that dishonesty is the most dangerous thing one can do to himself and his family. You become your own enemy and that of your near and dear ones.
